The industry has four basic parts:

Junior Game Artist: Starting postion which entails hands-on art creation under the lead artist supervision.
Senior Game Artist: Experienced artist(atleast 4 to 5years)typically entrusted with more complex art creation task on a project. They are expected to work mostly independently and take couple of junior artist under their wings.
Lead Game Artist: Talented artist with team managment skills who can lead artist team in specific area such as character creation or environment creation.
Art Director
Senior Postion holder with strong leadership skills along with visualization and artistic. They are responsible for lying out the artistic vision for a game.
Concept Artist
A concept artist creates a visual representation of an idea for use in movies, video games, animation, or comic books before it is added into the final product. What do you actually do? Concept artist draw or paint character, graphics, environment,weapons, vehicles, or anything that is called for on a projects.
Animators
A person or things that animates. graphic arts. an artist who produces, animation from drawings, objects or computer models, acartoon animator, a vedio game animator, a stop motion animators.
